1. SITUATION OF USE CASE

Engineering and provisioning of eNodeBs

Currently communications service providers are facing time consuming and risky manual processes, with costly issues when implementing, expanding, configuring and operating their´s 3G/4G RAN due to multiple constraints, for example:

Image
Multiple silos of technologies and a variety of vendors accumulated through years of network growth & evolution. Each of the evolution steps has introduced new sets and adjustments for manual processes as well as new layers of management systems.
Image
Inside organizations, multiple internal silos are generated to perform different tasks from network planning to network operation and maintenance. As a consequence, niche technical and/or vendor specialists are assigned to address each technical domain.
Image
Field services inefficiency. This is caused by multiple cell site visits to carry not only basic activities, but also repetitive ones in order to overcome network “ on air “ tuning to get final services acceptance and KPIs fulfillment.”

2. SOLUTION OF USE CASE

Automation solution using MAT

To overcome these numerous issues, MAT, Iquall Network’s Automatization framework,  provides  complete automated engineering and provisioning solution to the Multi Domain, Multi vendor and Multi technology RAN, allowing the communications service providers count on a single umbrella to agilize the RAN rollout process, simplifying the overall tasks, reducing deployment time and optimizing cost. Main considerations of the solution include:

  • Integration and centralization of the management of the Multi vendor - Multi technology RAN platforms.
  • Creation of automation workflows of engineering and provisioning processes in a single way, unifying them, regardless of the RAN solution.
  • Centralization and automation of the KPIs’ verification and reporting tasks in order to get the cell site services’ acceptance, including monitoring.
  • Integration of MAT with OSS/ BSS platform with open APIs.

3. RESULTS OF USE CASE

Results of Implementing MAT

0
Reduction of the RAN rollout time
0
Opex savings

Communications Service providers using MAT for this successful case of use, have obtained an important reduction of more than 70% of the  RAN rollout time, optimizing as well  all the steps from the engineering to the “on air” final test and validation process, reaching a monetization time for the mobile services in just few days rather than several weeks, driving a huge efficiency and precious market time to render services on time while gaining new clients and contributing signiticativaly in the  reduction of time to cash requested by financial departments and CEO’s.

Another important outcome is the  job reassignment of critical and specialized human resources  to more productive tasks than those  previously executed following manual and rutinary procedures and getting an efficient and automated KPI’s management of nodes B, all changes having an impact of Opex savings of more than 50%.
